Norris House

Courtyard kitchen extension: Client expressed the need for a small outside area for her young children to play whilst she worked from home and look after the extended family. The garage was transformed into a flexible space that contained an office, wet room and bedroom. The garage and rear extension then created the small courtyard.  One of the main drivers of the concept design was creating views out into the large garden; this was achieved through the use of a series of glazed doors, from the entrance hall through to the extension. A primary axis to cuts through the house, front to back with a secondary axis created in the centre of the plan leading out into the courtyard. Slot windows also allow views into and through the garden and courtyard.
